Title: OpenXML Promotional Poster
Skillset(s): Creative Consulting, Character Design, Illustration, Print Design
Client: Microsoft
Challenge / Application of the Project: The OpenXML Evangelism Team at Microsoft was looking to have a custom poster designed to be given out to their team members as a thank you for their years of hard work on the project. On a tight timeline, they needed a vendor to provide them various conceptual ideas for a poster design that best represented their team, custom characters based on 25-30 of their team members and, also, a vendor who could handle working with a third-party printer to handle all the printing and delivery of the media to them in time for their conference.
What RCS brought to the project to benefit it / complete it: Red Card Studios provided a handful of different conceptual ideas for the poster campaign—everything from retro 1970’s hero teams to mystery movie posters to more modern superhero movie posters—to the OpenXML Team and then worked with them to refine what the final design would look like. When a final direction was signed-off on, Red Card Studios then when to work in creating 25-30 superheroes, similar in style to the popular \“X-Men\” series of comic books, based on the photographs of the key members of the OpenXML Team. These characters were then integrated into an \“X-Men\” style movie poster layout and the final design was sent to press, professionally framed, and, ultimately, ended up being a very popular campaign for the OpenXML team.
